Ann Mizer -Instead of
“I have to, I get to”.
After a meal, satisfied, bless God, your God, for the good
land he has given you. Deuteronomy 8:10.
I was inspired by a Guidepost devotion to write this one – I
need to change my verbs. Instead of
“have to” I am going to try to say “get
to”. I don’t have to cook dinner, I
get to cook dinner with the food that I have, the stove that I have. I don’t have to do laundry, but I get to do
laundry because I have fresh water, a washing machine and a dryer plus extra
clothes to wash. I don’t have to go to
church, I get to go to church, because of the freedom in this country and the
blessings of our forbearers who formed Sharon Community Presbyterian Church 200
years ago, and all the faithful members
who have continued to spread God’s word to the next generation and to
our neighbors.
Prayer: Lord thank
you for the good land that you have given me, the opportunities you have given
me to “get to” do so many things. May I
appreciate and recognize them. Amen.
