Is that a joyous choir I hear? It is the Lord himself
exulting over you in happy song. -Zephaniah 3:17 (The Living Bible)
I recently read Zephaniah 3:17 in an Upper Room devotional.
I was aware that our Lord cries with us in our sadness and despair. But for Him
to sing was something new. Now I imagine Him raising his arms, stomping his
feet and shouting when a major joy enters our lives: when we finally get that
new job, when a healthy baby is born, or when the cancer is gone. The Lord is
with us not only in the valleys but also on the mountaintops. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Dear
Heavenly Father, Forgive us when we
forget to praise you for your many gifts - big and small. Thank you for your
comfort in difficult times and for your song in our gladness. Amen.
