Is that a
joyous choir I hear? It is the Lord himself exulting over you in happy
song. Zephaniah 3:17 (The Living Bible)
I recently
read Zephaniah 3:17 in an Upper Room devotional. I was aware that our Lord
cries with us in our sadness and despair. But for Him to sing was something
new. Now I imagine Him raising his arms, stomping his feet and shouting when a
major joy enters our lives: when we finally get that new job, when a healthy
baby is born, or when the cancer is gone. The Lord is with us not only in the
valleys but also on the mountaintops. Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear
Heavenly Father, Forgive us when we forget to praise you for your many gifts -
big and small. Thank you for your comfort in difficult times and for your song
in our gladness. Amen.
